S*x Slavery: I Owe My Pimp $45,000 – Nigerian Girl In Russia (PHOTOS)

Thousands of Nigerian girls go to Russia in order to find a job or to study. A 24-year-old girl from Benin City went to study economy in Russia but was tricked into s*x slavery.
A photographer from Russia, Tatiana Egorova, met four Nigerian girls who trapped into the hands of a gang that ‘recruit’ innocent girls into prostitution. Egorova told a story of each girl.


The first girl is Juliet, she is from Benin City, Edo state. According to Juliet, her neighbor – who was later revealed to be working for a gang – suggested Juliet’s parents to send their daughter to study at an economy university in Russia.
“I’ve just finished school and dreamt to become a student. My parents agreed to send me to Russia. The neighbor helped to get a student visa for me. When we landed at Moscow airport, her friend met us and took to Voronezh, 543km away from Moscow,” Juliet said.


In Voronezh, Juliet’s neighbor said she owed her $45,000 and must become a prostitute. She took away all Juliet’s money and passport. To survive Juliet had to serve customers as her neighbor beat her up daily for disobedience.
However, Juliet managed to escape and came back home.
“I don’t know what to tell my parents as they thought I was studying here. I’m afraid that my mother won’t be able to handle the truth. I’m almost 25, and I have to start my life over,” Juliet said several days before her trip back home.

According to the 2014 Global Slavery Index, Russia was ranked fifth as a destination country for victims of trafficking. While Nigeria was ranked first as an origin country for trafficking of women and children for commercial s*xual exploitation.
